Show Ashley Valley Master Plan Dear Jack: I would like to comment on the Ashley Valley Master Plan meeting held June 30 at the Courthouse. At the hearing the four committees that reported provided some excellent ' solutions and objectives to growth-related growth-related problems. As a newcomer to Vernal, and also someone who is working toward growth that is planned and beneficial, I support the objectives and recommendations of the committee. Briefly, they are: 1. Improved coordination and cooperation between Vernal City, Uintah County, and Special Improvement Im-provement Districts. 2. Formulation of a committee comprised of the various governments and governmental agencies that provide services to Ashley Valley residents. The purpose of this committee com-mittee would be to identify and prioritize needs resulting from population impacts. 3. Enforced zoning ordinances that a) protect the homeowner's investment; in-vestment; b) provide for orderly, homogeneous growth; and c) provide designated areas for mobile homes, rather than indiscriminate placing. 4. Orderly development, operation and dismanteling of mancamps in Uintah County as construction phases of various projects come to end. 5. Enlarging of the downtown business district, and eventual development of satellite shopping centers in Maeser and Naples. 6. Development of a bypass for industrial in-dustrial traffic around Vernal and a master plan for county roads. 7. Land acreage should be set apart for schools, parks, and other needs by county and city governments or developers. - The committee spokesman and others who commented demonstrated a ' noteworthy grasp of the issues and problems that spring from rapid growth. Those who attended the meeting w.ere able to take active part in deciding the future look of Ashley Valley. This was only the first hearing on the Master Plan. There will be others. I encourage all residents to attend these public meetings. While there have been some questions in the past about how fast the Vernal area will grow, the answers now are very clear. Ashley Valley is entering a period of growth that in our history, is un-parallelled. un-parallelled. The area Master Plan is the tool designed to incorporate public comment com-ment into the future development of our area. Let's all take part. Sincerely, ROBERT B.
