' " - V SPECTACULAR FINALE of the Elk's fireworks with donations from Vernal merchants, $1,500 display brought the crowd to life with horn in fireworks, honks and clapping. The club sponsored, along July 4th activities limited, butenjoyed V Although there wasn't a parade or ; ernal rodeo July 4th, activities were enjoyable to both young and old. Kids up to age 14 took spills and hrills during the First Annual Sunrise Lion's Club Bicycle Motocross July 4 at he Ashley Elementary playground. Heats were held for each age group vith final heats for the winners. The najor attraction for the spectators was i two-foot jump into a sand trap, which proved to be the fate of many cyclers. The course was arranged with many turns and bumps, which most riders completed without injury. Winner in the eight-year-old division was Keith Card, nine-year-old was Lance Jensen, ten-year-olds Jared Spencer, Jamie Childs won the 12-year-olds, Matt Larsen, the 13-year-olds, Ken Campbell, 14-year-olds. Tana Talbot won the seven-year-olds and Chris Jensen, the under seven-year- olds. About 40 kids were involved in the motocross. Other activities during the Fourth of July, included the firing of $1500 in fireworks by the Vernal Elk's Lodge at the Vernal Baseball complex. The fireworks were preempt by fire baton twirlers. Ann Larsen's and Julie Allred's tire baton twirlers performed. |
