Young's Psiirafl improves Softball record vo D3- The Young's Paint Crew continued is unbeaten ways in the Vernal Men's loftball League as they won three ;ames last week to improve their first ilace record to 13 wins and 0 losses, foung's Paint downed Ashton's 10 to 4 ind Freestone Construction 24 to 14 June 30. The Young's Paint crew also smashed Target Trucking 24 to 6 July 1, for their Kith win in a row. Young's Paint staged a Mount St. Helen eruption in the top of the first inning as they scored 14 runs for a 14 to 0 lead. Monty Lee was walked and Burke Buckalew got on base on an error. Kevin Huber smashed the soft- ball for a homer and Danny Long got on base on an error. All four scored to give Young's Paint a 4-0 lead. Carlos Reed singled and Kim Oliverson flied out. Ron Gardner and Rick Gardner singled and Reed crossed home plate. Kent Bigelow was walked, but was forced out at second base on a fielder's choice by Levi Smuin. Nick Richens, who came in to run for Ron Gardner, scored to give Young's Paint a 6 to 0 advantage. ad-vantage. Lee connected for a single to drive in Rick Gardner and Buckalew singled to knock in Smuin. Lee moved to third base and Huber smashed a double to drive in Lee and Buckalew for a 10-0 lead. Oliverson decided that enough singles and doubles had been slugged so he connected for a two-run homer, which drove in Reed and gave Young's Paint a 14 to 0 lead. Target Trucking had a short visit at home plate as only four batters had at-bats at-bats in the bottom of the first inning and zero runs were scored. Smuin led off in the top of the second inning with a double and Lee gained a single when pitcher, Kim Lawson of Target Trucking, fell over backwards in an attempt to nab the Softball. Buckalew singled to load up the bases and Huber cleared the bases with a . triple, which gave the Young crew a 17 to 0 lead. Long singled to score Huber and gave the the Young crew an 18 to 0 advantage. Reed grounded into a double play. Oliverson singled, but Ron Gardner flied out to end the inning. Target Trucking scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning to cut Young's lead to 18 to 2. Young's Paint regained an 18 point lead when they scored two runs in the top of the third inning. Bigelow smashed a double and scored on a triple bv Smuin. Lee flied out and Buckalew singled. Smuin scored to give Young's a 20 to 2 lead. One run was scored by Target Trucking in the bottom of the third inning, which reduced Young's lead to 17 runs, 20 to 3. Good flied out. but Tal Coon gained a double. Finley Horrocks flied out, but Mark Peterson singled to - drive in Coon-Cary White flied out for . ' .- '") the third out. Young's Paint gained two more runs in the top of the fourth inning for a 22 to 2 advantage. Long singled and scored on a double by Reed. Reed scored a few minutes later. Target Trucking acquired its biggest inning of the game when they scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut Young's lead to 22 to 6. The first batter singled and Lawson gained a triple to score one run. Lawson tried to score but was tagged out at home plate by Rick Gardner. Dusty Mecham got on base on a fielder's choice and Clifton Southam. Ron Horrocks singled to load up the bases. Good singled to send home Mecham and Southam with Target Trucking's fifth and sixth runs, but Good was tagged out at second base and Coon was whiffed for the final out. Young's Paint added one more run in the fifth and sixth inning and won the game by the score of 24 to 6.
