Show Grain loan rates announced Uintah County loan rates for 1981 grain were increased across-the-board in amounts equal to the recently announced an-nounced national average loan rate increase, said LaRue Pickup, chairperson chair-person of the county Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation committee. com-mittee. The rates are for wheat, $3.17 per bushel: corn. $2.61; oats, $1.42; sorghum, sor-ghum, $3.97 per hundred pounds and barley, $1.91 per bushel. "These rates vary from county to county," Pickup said, "to reflect differences dif-ferences in the value of the crop, production trends, and for some commodities, transportation costs to terminal points." Commodity loans give farmers an opportunity to obtain cash while holding their crop for later sale, Pickup said. By holding a crop and spreading marketing over a 12-month period market gluts, extreme price swings and transportation bottlenecks are to a great extent minimized. Copies of the loan rates may be obtained ob-tained from the county ASCS office or by writing to the Price Support and Loan Division, USDA-ASCA, P. 0. Box 2415, Washington, D. C, 20013. |
