Vernal Panthers vhump ELonghorfts The Vernal Junior High varsity volleyball team gained a 7-0 record due to two 15 to 8 triumphs over the Altamont Longhorns in Verna Oct. 6. The Vernal varsity crew has defeated Rock Springs, West, Roosevelt once and Duchesne and Altamont twice. Cami Reed was the top server for the Panthers with five points and June Anderson and Tia Liebhardt added three points. Kim Drollinger scored two points and Marcie McNeill added one point. Anderson was the number one Vernal server in the second game at nine points and Stacie Searle added three points. Denise Smuin scored two points and McNeill nabbed one point. Altamont nipped Vernal's junior . varsity team 16 to 14 in the first game, but Vernal rallied to win the second game 15 to 8 and third game 15 to 2. Jill Hansen scored five points and Kim Wall and Reed nabbed three points. Tabatha Deans netted two counters and Smuin added one point in the first game. Reed was the top Vernal server in the second game with five points and Smuin nabbed four counters. Joani Jackson scored three points and Shellie Beynon scored two points. Hamsen added one point. Jackson was the high scorer for the Panthers in the third game at six counters and Smuin, Reed and Hamsen added three points each. The Panthers will battle the West Vikings in Vernal Thursday at 3 p.m. and will take part in a tournament Wednesday, Oct. 21. The Vernal crew will host Canyonview Oct. 22. : 1 ! - : ' M ? i M : .
