Show Currently; n i Speaking ( NSCA ; bv MOON LAKE ELEC. ; ASSOCIATION, INC. THE ANNUAL PROBLEM r OF fflGH BILLS Sometime, in the long, long ago, a jhievous gremlin implanted in the i -si of a few of us an idea that took ; jdand flourished. It not only grew, it spread amazingly. The idea was ., :it electric meters are little I ieaters" and not to be trusted. : J we stop and think we know that an i ydfjc meter is a precision instrument -it doesn't "cheat". We know that iiciric bills are figured on rate t iiedules approved by the Board of lectors and the regulatory commis-e commis-e too. We know that the meter reading i. k our bill can be verified by merely .(ting at our meter. We know that we can refigure our bill by referring to our rate schedule and using some elementary elemen-tary arithmetic. And down deep in our heart, we know that if we use more electricity it will cost us more. Still, that little voice inside in-side prompts us to ask "why is my bill so high?" During this time of year when the ' days are getting shorter it is only natural to suppose that since it gets light later and dark earlier we will use more electricity. We are also starting to turn on our heating systems, most of which use electric power. The American people like not only their freedom, but also their comfort. They enjoy well lighted homes, comfortably comfor-tably heated rooms, hot running water, electric blankets and many other electric elec-tric living aids. They like electric automation on their farms. Having experienced ex-perienced the luxury of electric living, they would never willingly go back to the "good old days" even if it meant the end of electric bills. REMINDER: A free Wood Stove Installation In-stallation and Safety workshop is going to be held at the UBAVC Mall Wednesday, Wednes-day, October 21 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. |
