Show Discovery School hosts art exhibit by Tissandier Discovery Elementary School is currently hosting an art exhibit for public enjoyment and cultural enrichment. enrich-ment. These drawings are part of the collection of 220 drawings of American subjects made by the Frenchman, Albert Tissandier, now part of the permanent collection of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. Tissandier (1839-1906) was trained in the architecture at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. Tissandier made two trips to America, one in 1885 and the second in 1892. Tissandier's drawings show him to have been an acute observer ob-server and a fine artist. He carefully signed and dated his sketches, including a description of the location and other details of interest to him. The finished sketches were used as the source of lithographs illustrating various books which he authored. The paintings have been made available to Discovery Elementary through the Utah Museum of Fine Arts Outreach program. The public is cordinally invited to come to the school between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and enjoy these fine pencil drawings. |
