Show BPW names Amy Lube 'Club Woman of the Year Amy McKnight Lube was born February 24, 1919, at her . grandmother Murray's home. Mrs. Lube spent the first five years at her grandmother Josie's ranch located twelve miles east of Jensen, Utah, on Cub Creek. Amy came to Jensen when she was to enter the 1st grade. Her dad worked in the Kelly Mercantile and her mother operated the Hotel Alta at that time. Later, Amy's father worked on the Sunshine Sun-shine Ranch. The McKnight family lived liv-ed in Jensen until Amy was to enter the 8th grade. They then moved to Vernal where Amy attended school up through the 12th grade. During her last year of high school, she met Jim Lube and married mar-ried him upon her graduation. At that time, Mrs. Lube and her husband moved mov-ed back to Jensen to reside at the farm she had inherited from her grandfather Murray. Jim and Amy then lived on the Bob Thome place for two years and later moved to Willow Creek during which time Jim worked for the Thornes and continued this position for eight years. When "little Jim" was school age, they bought a home in Vernal. Mr. Lube worked, at this time, for Showalter Motor as a shop foreman, transferring to Utah Motor for a few years, and returning to Showalter Motor where he worked until his retirement. Together, Amy and Jim raised four boys: Jim, John, Joe and Tom. Amy is presently working for the Uin- tah County School District where she has played the piano for the choral departments during the past twenty years. She also gives private piano lessons. She established the Knitter's Boutique in 1972. Amy plans to operate the shop upon her retirement from the school district. She will also continue to give private piano lessons. j . : . j . I AMY LUBE honored by BPW. Amy's hobbies include gardening, needlecraft, playing grandma to seven grandchildren (especially Jamie since she lives right here in Vernal), and traveling with her companion, Lucille Lipphardt, to such places as Hawaii, the Caribbean and Acapulco (???!!!) as soon as possible! Mrs. Lube has held nearly every position in the BPW Club and has been a very faithful and considerate member. She is now holding the position posi-tion of first vice-president and handling it most capably, of course. Congratulations Congratula-tions were extented to Amy, for being named "Club Woman of the Year." |
