Show Firemen extinguish small apartment fire Vernal firemen responded to a fire in the Granton Hall apartments, 46 South 600 West, which caused $4,000 in damages to an upstairs apartment, Tuesday. According to firemen, the flames were caused from an electric fan near the kitchen window of the apartment. The fire climbed the curtains and got into the attic betore firemen, reached the scene. Within a few minutes after the firemen reached the apartment, the fire was under control. Most of the damage was caused by smoke, reported firemen. Monday, June 23, firemen responded to two fires the same afternoon. Firemen quickly extinguished a chemical fire at National Supply, 1875 S. 1500 East. Damages were minimal. At 3:15 p.m. the same day, firemen were called to a fire in the recap tire chamber at Superior Tire, 280 N. Campaigners for Stephen Dirks including his mother and his aunt attended, as well as campaigner Mike Boyer for Governor Mattheson. From the Uintah Basin area was Corey Grua who is opposing Gayle F. McKeachnie for Representative. He was accompanied accom-panied by his wife and small son. A reporter from the Deseret News was also present. The boat valued at $48,000 was stolen from Murray, Mur-ray, Utah, in March of this year. Suspects have been identified and face prosecution. A Clay Basin man faces drug charges after Sheriff's officers found marijuana suspected of belonging to the man. A formal complaint has been issued. The M&L Homemaker's Club held the annual June picnic (children's picnic) at the Daggett County Courthouse grounds at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 19. The delicious pot luck dinner was enjoyed just as it began to rain. "It" packages were won by Mari Gean Campbell, Marilyn Maloy, and Averil Schofield. The little children enjoyed a treasure hunt. Hostesses were Geralyn Smith, Louise Neff, Peggy Briggs and Nancy Jarvie. Saturday, June 28, the Long's Park Dam will be dedicated. Scott Matheson is expected to be there. The dam was constructed in two years and is now being be-ing used. The reservoir formed by the dam has multipurpose uses providing water lor the Fish and Game, Forest Service and Sheep Creek Irrigation Company. This was a Sheep Creek Irrigation Ir-rigation Company project to have water to irrigate after the spring runoff run-off was gone. |
