Show Grand High School Gains Accreditation Grand County High School received word that the school was "Approved with Comment" Com-ment" by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges at its annual meeting in Reno, according to Theron E. Johnson, principal. After the committee reviewed review-ed a report submitted by the school, they made several favorable comments. Leading the list was that the course offerings are very good. The observation read: 1 "Considerable "Consider-able breadth and depth is available to students in the program areas. Course offering offer-ing requirements are exceeded in every area. The opportunity students have to take Beginn- ing Spanish through Utah State University is commended." commen-ded." , Other observation included: student-counselor ratio is good (347-1); the school plant is very good and the vocational education facility is excellent; scheduling many of the language lan-guage arts classes as semester classes is commended and it gives the students a choice in offerings; and all teachers meet preparation standards. The committee suggested some additional media be acquired in the media center to fully meet the needs of students and staff and suggested sugges-ted some additional individual study space. They also com- mented that two teachers have excessive loads this year and the addition of a half time language arts teacher and a half time social studies teacher in the 1976-77 school year would lower the class loads in those areas. The committee closed the report by encouraging Johnson John-son and his staff to plan for an in-school evaluation within the next year or two. The principal, staff, students, stu-dents, district administration and the Board of Education were commended for the quality of program offered at Grand County High School and for the improvements being made. |
