Show Chamber Discusses Busy Schedule of Upcoming Events Several announcements of interest were made at the weekly meeting of the Moab Chamber of Commerce last Wednesday. Slim Maybery conducted the meeting in the absence of the president. Barbara Osmond invited all of the ladies of Moab to the fashion show being sponsored by the Jaycettes and the Humane Society on Friday, May 21. Admission is S3 and this includes the luncheon at the Greenwell. Fashions are provided by the local clothing merchants. Proceeds from the show will begin a building fund for a community animal shelter. Bud Lincoln reminded the membership that this is Hire the Youth Week and he read the Mayor's proclamation setting aside this week for the purpose of helping young people find work. Trail Bike Safari, scheduled for June 12, according to Ron Auger, chairman, will consist of two trails. Behind-the-Rocks and to Musselman Arch and Gemini Bridges. The Lions Club will be serving free coffee and do-nuts to the participants of the Safari prior to the excursions. Dottie Swasey reported on the upcoming Spring Arts and Crafts Festival to be held May 29-30 on a lot next to the Poplar Place. She stated the Southeastern Utah Fine Arts Guild, sponsoring the event, has been sponsoring very successful arts and crafts fairs for 3 years now, however, this will be the first to feature permanent built-in booths, for future use. Pete Franzel, Associate Vice President at the Salt Lake City Branch, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, was the featured speaker of the day. He presented an overview of the operations of the Federal Reserve Bank and answered questions from the membership. member-ship. Next week's speaker will be Dixie Leavitt, state senator and Rebuplican candidate for ' Governor. |
