Hunt, firman of the Institute for ,he Study of Outdoor Recrea-;n.ndTourism Recrea-;n.ndTourism at Utah State University will speak on The Tourist Industry of Southeast-' Southeast-' Utah". Following the lecture, Jerry Bonser, Director f ,he Moab Community Development Board, and Victor Vic-tor C. Schafer, Director of the San Juan County Travel Council will discuss the QUestion from the perspective of citizens of Southeastern Utah and the panelists and lecturer will respond to questions ques-tions and comments from the audience. The public is invited, and there is no charge. The lecture-discussion is .oonsored by the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University and is supported by a grant from the Utah Endowment for the Humanities, Humani-ties, a state-based affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. A graduate of the University of Idaho with a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, John D. Hunt has published and consulted widely in the field of outdoor recreation and tourism. tour-ism. His services in consulting and research have been used by numerous states including Nebraska, Idaho, Nevada, and Montana; federal agencies such as the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management; and private pri-vate organizations such as the Utah Navajo Development Council. Hunt and has written approximately one-hundred articles and papers pa-pers on outdoor recreation, tourism, and natural resources. resour-ces. In addition to his appointment as professor and chairman of the Institute for the Study of Outdoor Recreation Recrea-tion and Tourism, he is also Assistant Dean of the College of Natural Resources at Utah State University. Coupled with his service with the Moab Community Development Council, Jerry Bonser is also a member of the Moab City Council and part owner and operator of the Apache Motel. Originally from Colorado where he was employed em-ployed as office manager by the Public Service Company of Colorado, he has lived in Moab for nearly four years. Recently appointed as Director Di-rector of the San Juan County Travel Council, Victor C. Schafer earned a B.A. from Utah State University. A native na-tive of Monticello, he spent 2 years in the military in Germany before becoming a teacher and minority counselor at the Job Corps Center at Clearfield. |
