V Four great Americans of the past are in for quite a few surprises when they "Come Back for a Little' Look Around" at the United States in 1976. Special Bicentennial national touring presentation of the National Park Service, "We've Come Back for a Little Look Around" starring Ben Franklin, Mark Twain and Abraham Lincoln will be presented free to the public Saturday at the Moab City Park. Roberts Associates, Associat-es, the 30-minute show features featur-es a cast of actors portraying Franklin, Lincoln, Mark Twain and Annie Oakley. Also portrayed in contemporary contemp-orary roles are a park ranger and a park maintenance person. Park Superintendent Pete Parry said, "We are very pleased to have been able to have Moab added to this tour. The play focuses on - the contributions of Americans-past Americans-past and present-along with some of this country's problems. prob-lems. Through the varied characters, the cast debates the merits of America today and yesterday to answer Franklin's question of whether conditions in the United States warrant the continuation of the 'Great Experiment in Liberty'. The performances at the City Park are part of a summer-long tour that is taking the play to 110 national park areas across the country, but which will play in 2 or 3 Utah communities-Moab and two northern cities. "Little. Look Around"--which made a 20,000-mile pilot tour of park areas in 1975, opened May 2 at Independence Indepen-dence National Historical Park in Philadelphia. The Bicentennial-year performances are under two road companies traveling cross-country. Director of "Little Look Around" is Joseph F. Leonardo Leonar-do of Temple University's theater department. He has worked in films, television and theater. The script is the work of Daniel M. Klein, whose credits include special comedy material for television, including includ-ing the series, "All in the Family." Neil Bierbower, a teacher of costume and scenic design at Temple, is the show's designer. design-er. Roberts Associates has been creating original history-oriented plays and interpretive programs for the NPS since 1973, including Bicentennial productions for such NPS areas as Independence, Federal Fed-eral Hall National Memorial in New York City and for Morristown National Historical Histor-ical Park, New Jersey. |
