Show Sophomore Heads Track Teams in State Meet Sophomore Barbie Layton paced a contingent of Red Devils Saturday at Snow College by running away with the 220 yard dash. Moab took four girls and five boys to the meet and eight of them placed. The Moab girls team placed eighth in overall competition, but that was only 20 points out of first. Lozetta Edwards, a junior, and the Region Seven champ in the 100 and 220 yard dashes, took third place behind Barbie in the 220 and also garnered a third place in the 100. The other girl to place was another soph, - Judy Martinez. Judy captured third place in the discus throw. Moab's region champion medley relay team was fourth. The quartet carrying the red and white is made up of Russell Peck, Nick Chavez, Kim Loveridge and Todd Zimmerman. Hey Copeland took the only individual spot for the boys coming in sixth in the grueling two-mile run. |
