Show Billy Conn Victor Over Coast Rival PITTSBURGH. Nov. (UP)-J Lanky Billy Conn. IMS. Pittsburgh, last night boxed eut a unanimous 10-round decision over Young Cor-bett. Cor-bett. IWi. veteran campaigner from Fresno, Cal, who once held the world's welterweight championship. Award of the decision to Conn pleased about 5000 fans crowded into Duquesne Garden to see whether Corbett would repeat a victory on points which he won from Conn last summer at San Francisco. Conn, aggressive with a body attack at-tack touched up by occasional hard righta to Corbett's chin, took six rounds on the unofficial score card, lot', two and split two with the sunburned sun-burned Californtan. Corbett's best bid for the decision was mads in the fourth round, when he started with a one-two attack that opened cuts ever both of Conn's eyes and reddened his mouth. From the start of the sixth Conn ruled the show with infighting which oft ten sent Corbett to the ropes. |
