Show TWO-YEAR-OLD RIOT TALE TOLD Witnesses Describe Disturbance Two-year-old tale of a riot at Salt Lake county's relief hesdquartera in Sugarhouse was retold in Third district court Tuesday si retrial of five alleged rioters entered its second sec-ond day. Originally convicted and aen-tenced aen-tenced to two years in the state prison, the defendants Ralph Solomon. Solo-mon. Jamea Woolman. W. D. Allen. David Sinclair and Orson Shelley-were Shelley-were granted a second trial by the state aupreme court. Witneases against them Tuesday in Judge Herbert M. Schiller's court were C G. Wilkinson and George A. Chandler, employed at relief headquarters at the time, and Inspector In-spector O. B. Record of the police department. The police official testified that officers arrested Solomon in an effort ef-fort to end a disturbance at the relief re-lief headquarters at 2234 Highland drive on August 21. 1935. The prisoner appealed for a "rescue" "res-cue" and the fight waa on. with bricks flying, fists swinging and even clubs being brought into play. Inspector Record aaid. The state offered a brick, a fist-sized fist-sized rock, a sack of smaller rocks and several clubs as evidence. I |
