MOTOR SPEEDS UP FIRE TRUCK MURRAY Installation of a 10-borse 10-borse power, 1000-pound motor In a truck of the Salt Lake county fire department waa announced Tuesday Tues-day by Chief J. W, Clay, The motor will be one of the largest larg-est and fasteat in service In Utah, Chief Clay aaid. The replacement waa necessary to make the apparatus appa-ratus capable of serving- the entire territory of Salt Lake county, which constitutes the largest area protected pro-tected by one tire department in the United States, fire underwriters' records show. The motor waa purchased at a cost of approximately iisao and will be installed by the Salt Lake county department of roada and bridges mechanics to place the fire truck in service within a week. "Engines to be replaced by the new motor are too light to carry the load," Chief Clay aaid. "The "replacement makes the department one of the most modern In the state, capable of making apeedy and aafe calls to any part of the county."
