Show Safest In the World AMERICAN aviation is IS times safer than that of tht rest of tht world, and it is four times as safe as it was five years ago. This was one of tht high spots in tht address of Assistant Secretsry of Commerce Colonel J. Munroe Johnson before the Aeronautic Chamber of Commerce Com-merce of America. Colonel Johnson aaid American aviation it so safe that tht public has been taught to expect no accidents. Whan an accident does occur it receives "a degree of prominence to which it Is not entitled, considering the hazards in other meens of transportation." splashed over newspsper front pages, it should be kept in mind thst tht prominence given to it is a tribute to tht aaftty of U. S. aviation. If accidents were a daily occurrence, they would probably rata an obscure corner of an inside page. |
