Show The regular meeting of the Alpha Beta club was held at Valley Tavern last Friday afternoon. after-noon. A highlight of the program pro-gram was the well given paper mi "Ut:ih Artists," presented by Mrs. Harold Chrl.'itensen, chair-inun chair-inun of art of the Utah Federation Federa-tion of Women's clubs. Norma Uroekbank and Carol Clyde also entertained with piano selections. During a brief business meeting meet-ing following the program, club officers for the coming year were named, many being reelected and others newly elected. They are: President, Mrs. G. Lowry Anderson; An-derson; Vice President, Mrs. F. C. Packard; Recording Secretary, Mis. H. M. Weight; Corresponding Correspond-ing Secretary, Mrs. David Reese; executive committee, Mrs. G. W. Mrs. Bulea'h Whiting accompanied accom-panied her sister Mrs. Vera Packard Pack-ard on her return to Twin Falls, Idaho, following the latter's visit with relatives and friends in Springville. Mrs. Whiting spent a week in Idaho and while there attended the international skit tournament at Sun Valley, wtiich she reported to be an impressive sight. Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Ollerton '. entertained a number of rela-' rela-' tives at dinner at their home Sunday. Covers were arranged for Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barker and family of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Elmo Ollerton and children; Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Ollerton and baby M'aryln, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Averett and son, Grant. Mr. and Mrs. Otis A. Hjorth of this city, announces the engagement en-gagement of their daughter Lois, to James F. Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Miller, also of Springville, the marriage to take place April 12, in the' Salt Lake temple. In honor of Mss Lois Hjorth, a bride of the near future, Miss Erma Mendenhall entertained a number of close friends at a miscellaneous shower at her home in Mapleton Friday nighf. An enjoyable time was spent with games, followed by a delicious lunch. The guest of honor received re-ceived a number of lovely gifts. In attendance were twenty-three friends. Members of the Mothers' Study club were delightfully entertained Friday afternoon, at the home of Mrs. Lou Binks. A feature of the program enjoyed by all was the three-act play, "Jane Eyre," given by Miss Sara Marie Binks. President Philda Finley had the meeting in charge. Following the program, a short business meeting meet-ing was held in which officers were reelected for the incoming year. They include, Mrs. Finley, president; Mrs. Gladys Boyer, vice president, and Mrs. Emma Long, secretary. Committee chairmen chair-men will be announced later. Concluding Con-cluding the meeting a dainty lunch was served by the hostess to 22 club members and guests. In honor of Mrs. Laura Alleman, Alle-man, Mrs. Elsie Thyrett . and Mrs. Sarah Hutchings, who recently re-cently resigned from Primary work, officers and teac'hers of the Second ward entertained at a party at the home of Mrs. Sarabell Stewart in Spanish Fork. A delightful time was spent with games and a dainty lunch was served. Each honored guest was presented with a book in appreciation appre-ciation of their services. In attendance at-tendance were about 30 Primary workers. A group of friends delightfully surprised LaRae Thorpe at the home of Mary Cameron on Wednesday night. A variety of games was followed by a delicious luncheon. In attendance were the following, all members of the L. L. L. club: Alma MI'ner, Anetta Palfreyman, Dorothy Weight, Clara Bird, Mary Cameron, Jane Wainwright, Elaine Cherrington, Maurine Child, Shirley Barrett and the guest of honor. and trio selections, beautifully rendered. ren-dered. An interesting meeting and incidentally in-cidentally the first of this season, sea-son, was held by the Anchor 4-H club group Thursday night, at the home of Miss Lucy Ollerton. Ol-lerton. The girls under the direction di-rection of Mrs. Estella Ollerton, have completed four years of sewing and are now ready to begin a new course in home furnishing. Plans for the new course were discussed and refreshments re-freshments were served. New officers of-ficers for the club year were elected as follows: Lucy Ollerton, Oller-ton, president; Ileen Cook, vice president; Lucille Miller, secretary-treasurer; Jaunita Cook, reporter; re-porter; Fern Harrison, Hazel. Angus An-gus -and Noma Fullmer, activity committee and cheer leaders, respectively. re-spectively. Mrs. Blair R. Miller of Great Falls, Mont., has returned to her home after spending two weeks with her mother, Mrs. M. R. Straw in this city. On her return re-turn Mrs. Straw accompanied her as far as Salt Lake City. Mrs. Maurice Thorpe was hostess hos-tess to members of the W.N.O. club at her home Friday evening. eve-ning. The group enjoyed "Cootie" and "Neighbor," with high score prize for the games going to Mrs. Dee Adams and Mrs. Carl Atkinson. At-kinson. Mrs. La Vieve Bertelson was hostess to members of the LaVa-late LaVa-late club at her home Friday evening. eve-ning. Contra.ct bridge was the feature of entertainment preceded by a delicious chicken supper. Lovely decorations suggestive of Easter decorated the tables. High score prize for the games went to Mrs. Cloyd Booth of Provo and second favor to Mrs. Lamont Leav-itt Leav-itt also of Provo. Others in attendance at-tendance were, Mrs. Grant Penrod, Mrs. Lamar Hunter, Mrs. Lawrence Law-rence Bounous of Provo, Mrs. Charles Josie of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Bill Obie of this city, the latter two being guests. Mrs. Thelma Clark, Mrs. Delia Clark and Mrs. Lillie Hume spent three davs of the last week in Pioche, Nevada, where their husbands hus-bands are employed on road construction con-struction work. Miss Mattie Davis was hostess to the Current Study club at her home in Provo Monday evening. A very tasty dinner was served at two long tables with violets and Easter baskets featured in decorations. deco-rations.
