Show CITY PRAISED FOR CLEAN-UP ' DAY CAMPAIGN The city of Springvilie should be congratulated for the fine cooperation co-operation shown i-n the recent clean-up campaign. Under the guidance of Mayor A. O. Thorn, business houses, civic clubs and schools worked together enthusiastically to clean up a great many unsightly places. The well-organized well-organized campaign revealed itself in many groups workng wi-th shovels and rakes during the half-day half-day set aside by the mayor for the purpose of cleaning up the town. This campaign was in accordance accord-ance with the Central State committee com-mittee and Governor Blood's 1947 World Fair committee. The goals of these committees are: 1. To remove all unsightly vl'ews from our state highways, county highways and city streets, old, unused un-used buildings and barns, automobile automo-bile junk collections, dead trees, weeds, fallen down fences, farm machinery; by repair, replacement, replace-ment, removal or screen. 2. To eliminate unsightly surroundings sur-roundings in communities. 3. To plant lawns, shrubs, vines and trees to improve landscapes. 4. To paint all buildings. Emphasis is placed on the removal re-moval of all unsightly barns and fences. Springvilie has set an example which all other towns can follow. With this sDlendXl start, keeping these long-time goals in mind for the 1947 Centennial, Springvilie can make her visitors point to her with pride. |
