Show SOCIETY NEVS Mr. and Mrs. Jack Evans of this city wish to announce the marriage mar-riage of their daughter Louise, to Kay Mark "Bus'' VV,nall, which look place Saturday, March IS, at Provo. Mrs. Abe Ullock entertained a number of friends and relatives at a niecly arranged quilting at her home Wednesday. The group enjoyed social chat and lunch. Those present were. Mrs. Elizabeth Eliza-beth VVhitmore, Mrs. Arthur Hatch, Mrs. Ella Miner, Mrs. Emily Miner, Mrs. Elsi'e Thorn and Mrs. Marie Morgan. Garney Johnson of Oakland, . Calif., was in Kpringville the past week to visit his sister. Mrs. Fred Weight and family and other relatives rela-tives and friends in this city. Mr. Johnson, a former resident of this city, is coach of tbe Oakland M. Men Basketball team which came to Salt Lake City for the church tournament tbe past week. Mrs. Gertrude Clements entertained enter-tained n group of boys and girls at a birthday party at their home Wednesday afternoon, on the occasion oc-casion of her son liryce's fifth birthday. Games were concluded with a tasty Easter lunch. Members of the Notre Chez home economics group of the high school were ' entertained Wednesday Wednes-day at a delightful party at the home of Miss Louise Clyde. Miss Cecelia Mnycock, Miss Meriam Long and Miss Wilna Brown were assisting hostesses. The party featured a Czecho-Slavak theme with many interesting moving pictures of that country taken by Blaine Clyde on his recent mission and also souvenirs of the country, were shown to the group. At the conclusion of the program, a dain-,ty dain-,ty lunch suggestive of food eaten in the foreign country, was served to thirty-three members. The party was under the supervision of Miss Smith and Miss Shurtlcff, instructors. Mis. Marie Whiting was hostess to members of the Jeune Mere club at her home Wednesday evening. eve-ning. After a prettily appointed and tasty luncheon was served by the hostess papers on "Modern Literature," was given by Mrs. Naomi Thorn and another on "Modern Music" was given by Mrs. Mn urine Haymond. The Misses Lucille Adams, Phylis Smart and ,, Beth Mendenhall entertained with music. Two guests. Mrs. Elaine ' Parcell of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Verl Whiting attended in ad- 1 dition to thirteen club members. 1 Mrs. J. F. Wingate, with relatives rela-tives from Salt Lake City re- 1 turned to Cali'fornia for several days following her father's funeral in SaJt Lake City last week. The three federated clubs of Springville, Home Culture, Mothers Moth-ers Study and Alpha Beta, were represented with a large group of members from each of the district dis-trict convention held in American Fork on Saturday. Among the Springville people who were in Salt Lake City during the week end to attend the M Men basketball game were, Mr. and Mrs. Harlon Boyer, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Weight, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Camp Koloh were delightfully entertained en-tertained Thursday afternoon, at the home of Mrs. Ella Peterson, with Mrs. Emma Beardall, Mrs. Leona Olsen and Mrs. Gertrude Clements assisting hostesses. An Interesting program was given during the afternoon as follows: vocal -duet,. Phylis and Shirley Peterson; short talk, Mrs. Paul I Walker, partliamentarian; history of Eric J. M. and Hilda K. M. Hogan given by Mrs. Mary H. Weight; a piano solo, Shirley Barrett; Bar-rett; a history of Sarah Bate-man, Bate-man, by Mrs. Viola Beardall; reading, read-ing, Afton Ash. The lesson on pioneer choir leaders. Two county officers, Mrs. Olsen of Provo and Mrs. Mary A. Finley, were in attendance. at-tendance. Concluding the program pro-gram a dainty lunch was served by the hostesses, to a large group attending. |
