It lies 11 miles south and 6, miles west of Buhl, and 7 miles from Castleford. There is a completed rock road from Buhl to the project, which renders it very accessible. The I road is suitable for hauling either with team or motor truck. , " j There are thousands of acres of open range adjoining this project on the south and west, because of which it is especially suitable for sheep and cattle men, and because of which it should j j also be more suitable for general farm purposes than lands that are not accessible to the range, for it will insure a ready sale of practically everything produced right at the fanner's door, j The contour of the land is praised by everyone who has had an opportunity to see it. It has a gentle slope to the northeast, just enough for suitable drainage, and anyone having had experi- j ence in this country knows that a northeast slope is by far the most desirable land. . ' sj The soil is lava ash, practically free from rock. An 1120-acre ranch, which has been in operation in the center of the tract for the past 27 years, has proven . conclusively that there is '110 ! better tract of land in the northwest for the production of grain, alfalfa and fruit. These statements can be verified by visiting the ranch. The construction work on this project will all be j completed on or about November 1st, and water will be stored during the winter and spring which will be available for use during next year. The storage reservoir will be supplied by four j streams, namely, Cedar Creek, House Creek, Devil and Deadwood Creeks, and the reservoir is so constructed that the flood waters can be retained as well as the normal flow. I j . The dam is of earthen construction, reinforced with three concrete cutoff walls. The control gates placed are in a tunnel through solid lava rock, which is lined with a 10-inch concrete j i lining. The flume line construction is the Lennon type of flume, made from Armco iron, which is the highest grade iron available. The head gates are the Burnham type, each one construct- j ! j ed of steel and set in concrete and equipped with a patented measuring device, so that each and every water user may be able to know at all times the exact amount of water that he is using, without consulting the water master. The entire project has the roads graded on all section lines. All canals and latterals are bridged, and the project as a whole will be one of the very best i t constructed projects in the northwest. The land will be open for entry at Buhl, Idaho, on the 14th clay of October, 1919. The drawing will be a Carey Act drawing, where each will have an I J equal chance. The selling price will be $125.00 per acre; $25.00 per acre down, 110 more payments on the principal for three years, then $10.00 per acre for ten years. These contracts cany , j interest rate of 6 per cent, and can be paid in part or in full at any interest paying date.
