Show TEACHERS ADVOCATE THRIFT EDUCATION "A bas silk hosiery, silk shirts, fancy neckties and expensive footwear," was tbe slogan adopted at a meeting held by tho schoolmasters of seven western Mates on Tuesdav at Sacramento. Cal., at which George. N. Child, state superintendent superin-tendent of public instruction for Utah, acted as chairman. Resolutions were adopted providing tor thrift education to be established as a part of the regular school curriculum curricu-lum in a campaign instigated by the federal government to lower the prices of life's necessities. The seven states whicli were represented repre-sented compri;. tho twelfth federal re-i-crvire district and a permanent organization organ-ization was affected to deal with all of the school problems which might sribo in this district from time to time. The next meeting will bo held at Portland. Port-land. One., in 19'-20, at which time Miss Josephine Preston, president of the National Na-tional Education association, will preside. pre-side. The states represented were Utah, "Nevada. Oregon. Arizona, Washington, Td-iho and California. |
