LOG AX, Oct. .On weak el continuous contin-uous rain and snow on t'a5 mountain tops near the colisge c3mpus means nothins else to Dick Romney than a coming n-ee to be crammed full of extraordinary efforts ef-forts on the part of his bidders, who have been obliged to romp around in mud and water most of the past wek. and consequently have made sow progress. prog-ress. In fact, the Agsies have only one short week in which to prepare to entertain en-tertain the University of Idaho footballers foot-ballers at Logan. This event takes place ne:t Saturday, October 11. The last week was a rather unfortunate unfortu-nate one in some respects. In the first place, the opening of duck season, with many tempting hunting grounds In the vicinity of Logan, came near effecting football at the A. C. but Coach Romney went hunting himself hunting for his football pliyers and he now has the ironclad premise of every man that ducks or "chickers" either v. ill not interfere with football this fs.ll. Idaho University Strong, Breezes from Moscow, Idaho, iridicat that Coach Bleamiester has got his uinj.1 Bplendid array of playera with which Me ekpsets to trim the Utahns. Three years ago he spent Thanksgiving day in Logan, much to the regret of the Aggie follow, ei's, for the Idahoans carried oft all the spoils of a gridiron party held oh a field of snow and mud. At that Um3 the. Idaho mentor boasted a team that couldn't ba beat, and evidently he hasn't changed his mind since' that time. X least, Romney is not' taking any chances on letting the foxy Bleainiester gt away with another game on the Aggies' own lot. During the week some of the men on pomney's squad have gained considerable consider-able headway in the game. Clyde Worlev. Kyda, Brown, gtanfeer, Kirk, Denning, Evans, 51ood. Ellsworth, Stringham. Palmer. Pal-mer. Harris, Parkinson, Hiitte, Bacfc;man, Humphreys, Edwards. Bullen, Desy and EJrickson. The Aggie students are being roused for the coming season and every loyal White and Blue supporter is priming his pair of lungs to the acme of yelling per- j fection. j Stellar guard, bnce a pupil' of Tommy Fi Una trick and later under Watson'at the A. C, was out every night and has decided that he can play fullback as well as the line position. ' Worley therefore is making a merry chase for the backfield job. along with Fiog MacDonald and Chick Hart. Hart way obliged to go to Salt Lake to attend at-tend the special session of the legislature; legisla-ture; where he is a clerk, but will be back the coming week. MacDonald $ on the job, and whoever is going to play fullback will have to travel at a breakneck break-neck gait, says the husky Morltanan. Falck Looks Good, Luke Falck promises to do justice to 'the quarterback position in every respect. Two years ago the mighty Stief;l piloted the Aggies to conference honors and also got some honors himself. This year he is not here, but Falck is nothing short of what an all-conference quarterback ought to be. He will be able to fill the place left vacant by Stiefel in every respect. He can throw an dkick and is fast on foot. If there is Anything left of the quarterback job when Falck is out' the honors hen will fall upon Glen Dee. who otherwise plays halfback;.' Dee U also a speedster. Percy Hanson is faster than ever this year. In the daily rehearsals he can gain ground through most any kind of defense that has been offered on Adams field. "Bus" Croft, once a distance runner run-ner at the "Weber academy, has been out long enough now that he can be counted on to do some splendid work as a halfback. half-back. Einer Olson is demonstrating abil i ty again this season. Captain Andy Mohr is setting a fast pace for his mates and Andy already has set out to attract the scribes of Utah and Colorado who are' going to select se-lect an all-conference team. T-a-o years ago Mohr was accorded honorable men ticn. Morrel! at Guard. This year he is working for more than that. He will most likely be stationed at his old post' of right tackle, while Joe Maughan is making a bid for this other tackle position. Hebe Morrel), once a tackle, will be transformed Into a guard, from present indications, and he ie making mak-ing great progress. He has a. large stature stat-ure and lacks only a bit of speed in his playing. Stan Anderson and.Len Andms are being be-ing tutored 'in the art of playing the pivot position in case the fast Cannon ever falls down on the job. Possibly the most energetic worker that Coach Romney Rom-ney has on his list is Laurn Crookston. who never falters and Is playing Yiis usual good game at guard. Harold Nagle, Clem Campbell and Cuiiey Eowen are sume new men out to attract tlie notice of the njentor to their work. Pesty Jarvis, versatile as an athlete, will likely be elected to take charge of an end position. Gibbs Langton. G. Fergeson, Ferris Anderson and Hugh Sutton are working in every line position, and between them there ought to be borne good work. The Aggie freshmen have worked hard under Lieutenant Scott in preparation for some high school games. Among their rivals in the near future will be the East high school of Salt Lake. Andrus Elected Captain. The Salt Lakers, under Ott Romney, will be in Logan in three weeks to play two games, one with the freshmen and one with the Logan high. Before this date, however, the youngsters have got some hard games with other high schools. The. freshmen have elected Andrus. former for-mer Eureka star, to captain the team in place of Frank Backman. who was injured in-jured the last week and will be out for the remainder of-the season. Andrus and Gcwarm cf Tooele are running the team from quarter, whiie another hard-working freshie is Milton Hansen at center. The other members of the squad are Conroy, |
