Governor Bamberger had been invited to attend and deliver an address, but ho was unable to accept the invitation and was represented by Major Fred Jorgen-sen. Jorgen-sen. The major was accompanied by Major Ma-jor John S. Earley, Major S. Abbott Ma-glnnis, Ma-glnnis, Captain Gordon Know. Captain Alhert Wagner and Lieutenant E. W. Brainard. The main addresses of the evening-were evening-were delivered by Major Jorgensen and tho Rev. P. A. Simpkin. Tho Rev. Mr. Simpkin discussed the war and the prominent promi-nent part played In the great conflict by American soldiers. Those taking part in the vaudeville entertainment, en-tertainment, which followed the barbecue, were the Victoria trio, the Ukulele quin--tet from Salt Lake, and the Garfield male quartet and individual entertainers. The entire program was under the supervision su-pervision of a committee comprising J. F. Coombs, chairman; M. M. Warner, Jr., Phil Overlander, Fred Lloyd and Jules Leavitt. The employees and their friends were the gm-sts during the evening eve-ning of E. T. McEivenny, superintendent of the Smelter, and A. H. Richards, assistant as-sistant superintendent. Many of the visitors took advantage of the opportunity to inspect the immense smelting plant. The special train for Salt Lake left at 11:45 p. m.
