M., died in France October 1 as the result of wpunds received in action. ac-tion. He was a private In the machine gun corps of the 362nd Infantry. He was the grandson cfc Mrs. Mary A. Janney.- 548 West Second North street. He enlisted last July. William A. Robblns, son of A. R. Rob-bins Rob-bins of Provo. who died in tho service, was burled In France October 22. He was 24 years of age and volunteered in December, 1917. He went overseas In 'July of this year. John H. Oborne, son of .Mr. and Mrs. John H. Osborne, 674 Wall street. 19 vears of age. died at the Chelsea. Mass.. hospital of pneumonia. He enlisted August Au-gust 11, 1916. trained at Mare Island and was assigned to the U. S. S. Denver. November 14, Private Theodore E. Gour-glotls- of Garfield died In France of wounds received in action, according to official report. Novsmber 15, Herbert Layton, son of Mrs. Orson Layton, was. officially reported dead of typhus In France. Death occurred oc-curred October 19. He was born in Lay-ton Lay-ton in 1892. , He. went to Camp Lewis in April 1918i He was a graduate of the law department of the University of Utah He leaves a widow, who was formerly Miss Dora James of Denver, and a babv- daughter. He Is survived by six brothers and three sisters. November 13, Richard C. Werner died of pneumonia at Camp Travis. Texas, November No-vember 12 of pneumonia. He was the son of Joseph H. Werner of 6S7 East 7th South. Hq was In the motor department de-partment of the quartermaster corps. October 24, Maurice K. Miles, son of (he late Bishop E. R. Miles of Smlthfleld died at the Agricultural college of pneumonia pneu-monia October 24. He was born at Smlthfleld. January 14, 1899, and was a member of the S. A. T. C. October 30, George Benson Parkinson, son of William C. Parkinson, president of Hyrum stake of the Mormon church, died at the Agricultural college hospital at Logan on this date of Inflncnza-pneu-rnonla. He was born at Whitney, Idaho, Oct 17, 1899, and was a member of the S. A. T. C. Lenoy Qulncy Eyre of Minersvllle, Beaver county, died at Logan October 21. He was awaiting induction into the S. A. T, C. Dewey Henrle Otteton of Mantl. t'tnh. died at I)gan of pneumonia October 17. He was a member of the S. A. T. C. Edward J. Crawford, 21 years or age. died in France of chloroform anaesthesia while undergoing an operation for ap pendicitis. The date of the official report re-port of the death was December 27 1917. The young soldier was born in Frank-ling, Frank-ling, Pa., and came to Salt Lake about ten years ago. As a messenger boy he learned to become a telegrapher. At 18 he handled the Associated Press wire out of Dallas, Texas, to Chicago. Crawford Craw-ford enlisted In the signal corps at Fort Douglas In April, 1917. He passed a test of forty German words a minute. He was a student of West high school and had a working knowledge of German. Ger-man. He was the son of R. W. Crawford Craw-ford of Castlegate. Utah. November 11, Corporal Austin Draper of Redmond. Utah, is reported officially as having died of wounds in France. Wilbert Johnson of Heber City who died at Camp Kearny of influenza was paid final tribute at Heber City November 10. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Johnson. He left for Camp Kearny September 5. Corporal Arthur L. Cahoon of Deseret. Utah, was reported killed In action Wednesday. November 13. November 13, Private James H. Murphy of Park City was officially reported killed in action in France in the official list of this date. Private Joshua H. Bates of Summit county. coun-ty. Utah, was reported killed in action on November 13. Edward A. Kupfer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Kupfer. 1133 Browning avenue, died of pneumonia in the service in 1917 He was 22 years of age and a native of Salt Lake. He enlisted In the Utah field artillery. In E battery about three months hefore his death. Hcwas survived sur-vived by his parents, four hrolhers and two sisters. William Clyde Layton, son of C. A. Lay-ton, Lay-ton, who enlisted in the army in August, Au-gust, 1917. was killed In a railroad accident acci-dent In France in July, 1918. He was 22 years of age. James P.
