Show CUBAN PRESIDENT PARDONS LEADERS HAVANA. Nov. 13. The nine labor leaders whose arrest In connection with the strike of tho federated harbor unions here brought about a general sympathetic strike which has virtually paralyzed the city's Industries and traffic since yesterday yester-day morning, have bctn pnrdoned by President Mcnural. The men had been sentenced to Herve eighty days in prison on charges of coercion. Members of tho harbor union? Quit work more than a week ago and their leaders were arrested shortly afterwards. The president consented to pardon the labor leaders at the request of a committee com-mittee of newspaper directors, publication publica-tion of whose dallies was suspended yesterday yes-terday morning because of a sympathetic walkout o their printers. The dock workers' strike has not been affected by the release of tho leaders, but all the other unions have declared that the only object of their general strike was to " obtain the release of tho convicted con-victed men. they having made no demands de-mands for increased wages or the betterment better-ment of conditions. |
