The fact that Mr. Giauque would not be a member of the new board was also exclusively announced in The Tribune. The application of Mr. Giauque for reappointment had been on file with Governor Simon Bamberger for some time, and seemed reasonably assured, because, of Mr. Giauque 's long experience experi-ence on the board, his political affiliations affilia-tions with the party in power, and especially espe-cially in view of his deep interest in school affairs and his attitude as a member of the board in endeavoring to secure the highest possible return on school lands. The object of continuing the land board in office until April 1 is that it may complete com-plete the business of the first quarter of the year, thereby completing a unit of the 3'ear 's work which is one of the busiest of the entire year, because of the many applications for new " leases and renewals which, pile up over the year end.
