I The Allen line as shown for 1917 consists con-sists of five-passenger touring cars, two-passenger two-passenger roadsters, both offered in four uilusiial and attractive color finishes; a four-passenger roadster in ''Classic" brown, a convertible sedan and a coupe. All the various body styles are handsomely hand-somely designed and finished, considering consider-ing the moderate prices. A standard chassis of proved worth carries all the body styles, powered by a thirty-seven horsepower, four-cylinder engine' of 3 inch boro and 5 inch stroke. The motor is- of the en-bloc type with Westinghouse two-unit starting, start-ing, lighting and ignition system. It is cooled by the thermo-syphon system and a large belt-driven fan" The cone clutch is enclosed ami the selective type transmission trans-mission is bolted to the clutch housing, forming the unit power plant. The Stewart vacuum gasoline'feed is used, with the tank in tho rear. A wheel base of 112 inches, full-floating rear axle and 5.")-inch rear springs assure easy riding and comfort for the passengers. A feature of the Allen chassis is the liberal size of all bearings both in the motor and chassis, the well.-known S. K. Y. Swedish bearings being used at the most important points. The outstanding feature of the Allen line is the choice of four handsome col- or finishes in both the touring car and two-passenger roadster. These colors are unusual shades of "Classic" brown blue, gray and green. All are finished with black radiator and fenders and cream wheels. The brown cars are trimmed with brown Spanish upholstery, blue and gTay cars in gray material, aDd the green car in an extremely dark green material. Kxceptional comfort is found in the well proportioned and roomy seats. Steering is from the left side, with control con-trol leavers in the center. The. four-passenger Classic', roadster road-ster is shown for the first time and is trulv an attractive car, being roomy and comfortable, with handsome streamline body. It is finished in "Classic" brown with brown Spanish upholstery. The Allen sedan is a five-nassenger body of the convertible type m which the windows lower from sight, while the door pillars are easily removed and carried in a special compartment behind be-hind the rear scat accessible, yet out of sight. The manufacturers of Allen motor cars wore the first to offer a choice of color finishes in moderate priced cars, without extra cost, and there is every evidence of a great increase in the "rowing "row-ing popularity of these sturdy and attractive at-tractive cars. |
