Show I GRANITE HIGH GIVES INDEPENDENCE PLAY One of t ho best educational entertainments entertain-ments givn at the Granite hish school this year was staged yesterday afternoon in the assembly room when the faculty dramatized und acted for the students the scene of the "Old House of Burgesses in Virginia" and Hie "First Continental Congress nf America." The purpose of t he pro::ra mine was to stimulate an ap-tprf-'Muiion nn th pr(rt of the students for jjwhat our rorcfalhers did for them; to show the characters of the men who took an active part tn graining for us the independence in-dependence and liberty which we now- enjoy, en-joy, and to show -the customs and dress o the people of that day. The actual speeches made, by John Adams, Ad-ams, Thomas Jefferson, Jon Hancock, Patrick Henry, Benjamin Franklin and others were rendered effectively by the high school instructors. |
