Show PAYS HIGH TRIBUTE j . TO SALT LAKE CITY Former Head of International Interna-tional Association of Rotary Ro-tary Clubs Is Here. TALKS OF THE WEST Well Pleased With Work of the Local Rotary Organization, A glowing tribute to the enterprise ! of the citizens of trait Lake City was? j ! paid yesterday by Glen Mead, former' president of the Int ernational Associa- I t i'lLt of Rotary clubs, who, accompanied ' . by his mother, was a visitor hero, following fol-lowing a tour throug.li Yellowstone park. Mr. Mead is on his way to California. 1 ' There are very few cities. ' ' said : Mr. Mead, "that exceed 8a!t Lake City from a historic point of view. It is one of the most attractive and interesting cities in the world, in meeting other travelers throughout tho country have invariably heard Salt Lake City spoken of with the greatest interest aud enthusiasm. en-thusiasm. The city is located on highways high-ways of transcontinental travel in a most attractive region. Its municipal development is all along (he most up-to-date lines; every street is a Fifth avenue, ave-nue, and it is a relief to an easterner to get into a city whose streets are broad enough to accommodate the peculiar pecu-liar kind of business aud crowded traffic traf-fic that the universal use of fiutos has produced. The hospitality of Salt Lake City is generally known aud appreciated. appreci-ated. The hotel 'servico is high grade. Suspicious at First. ' Easterners are more or less suspicious sus-picious of the optimism that is characteristic charac-teristic of the west. It is always discounted, dis-counted, and a great deal of tho confidence confi-dence that the westerners place in their country is attributed by conservative easterners to local pride and the spirit of boosting, without inquiring too carefully care-fully into the basis for the claims. "The impression that T glean in coming com-ing in close contact with the men of affairs in Salt Lake City is that they know what they are talking about and their capaeitv and f orcsiuht have already al-ready made the city a really great business busi-ness metropolis, spreading out so as to utilize the untouched resources of Utah. "Salt Lake City is going to be pushed forward to a point of greatness, not only in size, but in natural influence. Close study of business conditions and business opportunities is exceedingly reassuring. re-assuring. I fail to find a great quantity quan-tity of 'hot air' that is so prevalent in other cities. Compliments Local Club. "I am particularly interested as a former officer of the International Association As-sociation of Eotary clubs in the Rotary club of Salt Lake City, and have had an opportunity on 'chis visit to get personally per-sonally acquainted with many members of the club. "It is very gratifying to find that the business representatives in the Rotary club here are almost entirely the proprietors or executive heads of the corporations and firms that they represent. ' ' Consequently, the Rotary club of this city is a strong body of business men, in which every line of business in the city has a voice in regulating not only club affairs buy-community interests inter-ests and advancement as well. I do not hesitate to characterize the local Rotary club as one of the strongest and most effective in an organization which contains con-tains more than 250 clubs similarly organized. or-ganized. "The citizens of Salt Lake City are generally familiar with the efficacy of this active organization, because its enterprise en-terprise and liberality have accomplished many great advances in the life of the city and created many valuable additions addi-tions to the city's life and activity. 1 bespeak for Salt Lakte City a very bright business future.
