Wilson's chestnut colt, Canipfiro, by Olambale-NIghlfall, clinched his right to the 2-year-old crown, as he cleverly demonstrated that he Is tho champion youngster of the year. Carrying tho top weight of 125 pounds, with Johnny McTagsrart riding, Campfire won by half a length from W. V. "Whitney's "Whit-ney's Rickety, with H. 21. Hewitt's Skeptic third, two lengths away. The winner's timo was 1:13 4-5 and the value of the stakes was ?22.?"0. of which the winner's s'.iare, $17. 340. went to owner Wilson. Second money amounted to $260 and $1133 went to the third horse. There were ten starters, three of them, Rickety, Tumbler and Vivid, belne- the Whitney entry, while a pair of fillies, Madeira ant Tlurlesque. represented the stable of Gifford A. Cochrane. Campfire was a pronounced public choice; the Whitney trio being next in favor, with Skeptic strongly supported as the next host in a lively ma-kL. Campfire, breaking from the outside position, posi-tion, was taken to t lie middle of the track by McTaggart, when he took the lead and held it to the end.
