Show THREE ARE OUT FOR RECDRDERSHIP PLUM Langenbacker, Islaub and Cannon in the Race for the Nomination. Yesterday was a little quiet so far as announcements of candidates were concerned. It may have been because it was Saturday, but, whatever the reason rea-son was, there were only four announcements announce-ments and the rumor of another. County Coun-ty commissioner and county recorder are the offices particularly sought. W. F. Langenbacker is out with tho announcement of his candidacy for the Republican nomination for county recorder, re-corder, and it is unofficially announced that Clarence M. Cannon also will be a candidate for the nomination. The office of recorder seemed to be the particular goal yesterday, as George H. islaub, incumbent, announced that he would be a candidate for renomina-tion renomina-tion before the Democratic county convention. con-vention. All he had to say in connection connec-tion with the announcement was that he was willing to stand on his record of the past two years. One Democrat and one Republican put in bids for the county commissioner1 ship. George G. Smith of the Second ward announced that he would be a candidate before the Democratic convention con-vention for nomination for the office, and H. W. Walker of Cottonwood will go before the Republican convention on a similar mission. The announcement of Mr. Smith came as the result of a concerted move on the part of the Democratic workers of the Second ward, who expressed the belief be-lief that the workingmen's population of the west side is entitled to representation repre-sentation on the board of county commissioners. com-missioners. Mr. Walker is a native of Utah and has been prominent in business circles for many years. It is understood that his candidacy is indorsed heavily by the county population outside of Salt Lake City and that he has many supporters sup-porters within the city limits. , |
