Entry blanks have been sent to a large number of prominent players throughout the various cities and towns in the state, and o titer efforts will be made to encourage en-courage a large out-of-town participation. Popperton club; Peramorz Little, University of Utah ; T. B. Parker. East Side Tennis club. The new Hollywood club Js not a member of the association, but wilt probably join In the near future. The tournament will continue from June 27 to July 4. There will be four events men's singles, men's doubles, women's singles and women's doubles. The tourney tour-ney will be open1 to all amateurs in the state. The rules which will govern the tournament tourna-ment this year provide that matches will be decided by the best two out of three sets, and that matches, with t lie exception excep-tion of the semi-finals and the finals, may be played on courts other than those at the Country club If the contestants wish, provided that the results of the matches are promptly reported to the officials. Entries for the tournament should be made to Paul Bassett at Spalding's store, 27 East Second South street, "before S o'clock on the night of June 2fi. The tournament committee Is composed of A. I. Cleveland, T. W. Rover. C. B. Oliver, W. H. Gregory and T. B, Parker. Last year no matches for women were held, owing to the fact that no entries were marie. This year a number of contestants con-testants will take part, and the whole programme of events will be carried out. Following the stale tournament, preparations prepa-rations will be made for the annual lntermountain lnter-mountain tourney, which will be held at the Salt Lake Tennis (dub August 26. |
