Show 1848 PIONEER DIES AT PLEASANT GREEN George WAshinfrton Perkins, who had resided at Pleasant Green for forty-eight years, died at the family residence at that place yestorday at 1 2 : 5f p. m. He was born in Macedonia, 'Hancock county, Illinois, May 1, 183(5, and came to Utah in 1S4S, crossing the plains at the age of 12 years. He was one of the first called to settle in the district in which he lived and the last of the pioneers pio-neers of Pleasant Green. Mr. Perkins drove the first Btage, or pony express, to California from this city. He is survived hy the following children: George YV. Perkins. Mrs. D. A. Thompson, John A. Perkins, T'te Perkins. Ray M. Perkins and Mrs. Perry Mammoth; also by twenty-four grand-dhildren grand-dhildren and three great-grandchildren. |
