Show DENTISTS ADDRESSED DI UTAH'S G0VEB Distinguished Visitors Participate Parti-cipate in Proceedings of Big Convention. Governor William Spry delivered the welcoming address at the first session of the twenty-sixth annual convention of the Utah State Dental society at the Hotel Utah yesterday morning. Dentists from all pans of the state are in attendance at what promises to be the most notable; gathering ever held by the medical men I of Utah. 1 Dr. A. C. "Wherry, president of the association, presided at the first session. Dr. Y. E. Cummer of Toronto, Canada, gave a paper on "Partial Dentures" at the firet meeting. At the afternoon session ses-sion Dr. T. W. P.rophy of Chicago opened discussion on "Focal Infection." Dr. T-! T-! A. Flood of Salt Lake read a paper on this subject. .Another discussion that aroused considerable consid-erable interest was that on "Modes of TntWtinn Rota line" tn f hp. Oral I'.-ivitv." Discussion of this subject was started by i Dr. T. B. HartzeU of Minneapolis. Dr. L. L. Dairies of the University of Utah gave the paper. Dr. Hartzell gave a talk on "Dental Diseases in Relation to Public Health" before a considerable audience tn the evening at Barratt hall. His lecture was illustrated, and showed that the importance import-ance of care of the teeth is generally much underestimated in matters of general gen-eral public health. Among the national figures in various phases of dentistry who are in Salt Lake as guests of the state society are Dr. Brophy, dean of the Chicago College of Dental Surgery and dental and oral surgeon sur-geon at the Presbyterian and Provident hospitals in Chicago; Dr. W. E. Cummer, professor of prosthetic dentistry and applied ap-plied dental physics at the Royal College of Dental Surgeons at Toronto; Dr. Thomas B. Hartzell, research professor of mouth infections, oral surgery and clinical pathology at the University of Minnesota; Dr. A. W. Starbuck.. superintendent superin-tendent of the college of dental surgery at the University of Denver. |
