Xevertheless the war de-pat-tni'-nt at Washington has placed an uiuim;:;! burden upon the state. Only a few week? ago the transformation transfor-mation of the guard from infantry to ea valrv began. When the president issued his call the militia was necessarily neces-sarily in a state of unreadiness as a result of the government's instructions regarding organization. In spite of the handicap placed on the militia the war department has now requested Utah to furnish for federal service two add it ional troops of eav-alv eav-alv and a field ho-pital. The difficulties that best the pah of f 1 1 e Utah militia in organising on th.-1 basis require'! by the gornment should be impressed upon the public mind, for otherwise the delav sure to result from reorganization and the additional ad-ditional requirements will not be generally gen-erally understood. |
