Show AGGIE SUPPORTERS ARE IN HIGH SPIRITS Speeial to The Tribune. LOGAN, Sept. 26. Each successive day, as students return to the A. C, the aspect for a crackerjack Aggie football aggregation aggrega-tion gets brighter. A t the outset a few suits were distributed among a small squad of last year's freshmen, who, sensing the fact that they are now eligible for the first team, have been zealous from the start. A few months of plugging on the farm have added hardy and husky qualities to their physique, fitting them up Jn tip-top shape for the gridiron. The number calling for suits lias steadily increased. There are now twenty first-class prospects, pros-pects, many of whom achieved greatness on various high school aggregations. Some few are In a new world entirely when It comes to the pigskin sphere, but with a burning desire to make good and excellent physical qualifications, the success suc-cess of their progress is apparent from the pleasing countenance Coach Teetzei assumes after the stiff drills he puts them through every afternoon. Dark Horses. Several dark horses have come to the front from quarters unexpected. And with some old men who are sure to be on deck within a week, the atmosphere on College Col-lege hill briar plena wonderfully. The zeal aroused yesterday in the first student body meeting makes ft self-evident that all forces of the school organization, in- eluding the Agricultural ctub, the fom-1 fom-1 mercial club, the classes and also the Home Economics clufci which, by the I way, means much to t he boys are all going to concentrate their prowess as one ing machine to push the team along a victorious career.' One reason for the live spirit is the return of C. Owens and Howard Brossard, bot h of whom were prominent In the Aggie squad of 1913, which carried off the state championship. They are out every evening, -and, from the ginger and skill with which they master the situation, It is evident that the same old fighting spirit that animated them before is still alive and promises to assert itself once more. Both men are eligible this year. Has Good Effect. Stiff another pleasant incident was brought to the attention of observers in ' the person of Edwin Clarke Davis, A. M., Ph., who recently arrived from the east to become instructor in chemistry. He has donned a football suit every day thus far and has given the men some mighty fine exemplary work. Although not a star, he has had good football experience in some of the prominent schools of t lie east. To ar.e him mix with the fellows and offer valuable suggestions produces a moral effect that cannot but bear re-results. re-results. The freshman class is now undergoing its organization. It boasts of its size and its capability to create a team worthy to buck up against the first teapi in a way to bring down much applause. The sophs, Juniors and seniors also expect some keen competition In the game for the inicrclass championship. Once the regular team is selected, the work It will get from the second squad and the class elevens ought to round it out into an aggregation capable to hold Its own this toll. |
