Horace Sanderson. No one in Salt Lake is more pleased as a result of the victory at 8an Francisco Fran-cisco Friday of the Sunnyside mine rescue team of the Utah Fuel company that the Rev. Horace Sanderson, pastor pas-tor of the Westminster Presbyterian church. The Rev. Mr. Sanderson is father of H. H. Sanderson, captain of the team, and takes great pride id the work of his son id bringing his team to a point of efficiency that made it champion of the United States. Captain Sanderson was born in Phil-lipston, Phil-lipston, Mass., and was educated at Colorado Col-orado college, Colorado Springs. After he had completed his course he was employed em-ployed as engineer by the Northern Coal & Coke company of Denver. For six years he engaged in the general engineering en-gineering business in Trinidad and consequently con-sequently had the, opportunity to visit all of the coal mines in Colorado and neighboring states. He was superintendent superin-tendent of the Consolidated Fuel company com-pany at Hiawatha, Utah, for a number of years. About six years ago, when the first rescue apparatus was brought to this section, Mr. Sanderson engaged iu training train-ing at Ookadale, Colo., and since that time he has represented the Draeger Oxygen Apparatus company of Pittsburg, Pitts-burg, having installed practically all of the apparatus that has been placed west of Colorado. Mr. Sanderson holds U. S. ' B. of M., combined certificate No. 7913- A for first-aid and helmet work. He has been active , at practically all of the mine- disasters of this section. |
