Attended by I more people than ever before in the hls-I hls-I tory of this region, the third annual Wa-' Wa-' Batch county fair dosed last night after a ! session of three ilays. Thousands were in attendance from other towns of the state and it was a matter of comment that the general excellence of the displays in various lines was far above the average ever seen here in a similar exhibition. Livestock and agricultural products were, of course, the main features of the exhibition, but the domestic sciences, moehanical arts, inventions ami the fine arts also held conspicuous places. The grounds were thronged up to the closing hours. The races, which were largely attended attend-ed and productive of exciting and clean sport, resulted as follows: First race, harness, 2:25 class Stride On, Jr.. owned by James Johnson; Bona M., owned by Isaac Jacobs. Stride On won; time, 2:16 4-5. Purse, $50; (16, Second race, quarter mile dash Dan, owned by Joseph Smith; Dick, owned by Jlv Moulton; Birdseye, owned by Andrew Maver; Lou Dillon, owned by Frank Mackine; Buckskin, owned by (Varies Cook; Roudy, owned by Q. B. Cummlngs. Buckskin won. Purse, $10. Third race, harness, 2:20 clans Uno, owned by J. F. Murdock; Eddie Woods, owned by Charles Bronson. Uno won both heats; time, first heat, 2:15; second heat, 2:22. Purse, $100. , Fourth race, 2:30 class Bet, owned by A. McCarroll; John H., owned by Ft. S. Murdock. Bet won; time, 2:26. Purse, $35; ?15. ' Fifth race, relay, four norses each side Heber against Center Creek. Curtis Murdock won for Heber. Sixth race, half mile dash John, owned by Joseph Smith; Vic, owned by Hy Moulton; Lou Dillon, owned by Frank Macklns. John won. Seventh race, six miles, motorcycles Glen Johnson and Harold Wall. Johnson won. Time, 8 minutes. The fair closed at midnight tonight, the final function being a big ball, given in the cttv hall. It was attended by the queen, Miss Mary Lindsay, and her maids of honor, Miss Lindsay leading the grand march. |
