Fronch, promoter pro-moter of tho Pacific Dovelopment company, com-pany, was proparod by tho county attorney at-torney yesterday and a now complaint charging French with obtaining monoy under 'false pretenses was issued on complaint of George O. Relf, manager of the Hotel Utah. N. (r. Morgan, assistant as-sistant eouuty attorney, will loavo this afternoon for Sacramento to present the papors to Governor Hirunt Johnson and urgn that they bo honored. In the lateBt complaint Fronch is alleged al-leged to have passud a draft for $1400 at tho Hotel Utah by representing that it wan worth its face value, whereas it was worthless, according to tho complaint. com-plaint. In the first complaint Fronch was alleged to havo passod a draft for $1000 on the hotel. This first. draft was not honored by D. Von Cramor of Vancouver, Van-couver, on whom it was drawn, though at the hearing Lu Sacramento last wook Cramer, it is said, denied having repudiated re-pudiated the draft. Tho second draft was drawn on J. F. Clark, who acted as counsel for French at the extradition hearing. Olark refused re-fused payment of tho draft, it is said. The county attorney haB oonsidered proceeding against Clark in connoction with tho worthless drafts, though no action hns been taken to that end. |
