Show MAJOR W. H. SELLS DIESjOERKELE! Former Well-known Salt Lake Man Is Dead From Blood Poisoning. Mayor William H. Sells, formerly a resident of Salt Lako and widely known in Grand Army circles, died suddenly sud-denly last Tuesday in Berkeley, Gal. It is believed that death was caused from blood poison which it is said Mr. Sells suffered 'from the effects of an operation for an ulcerated tooth. He was commonly com-monly known as Major Sells. Major Sells was 71 years of age and ho was buriod Priday afternoon at the Presidio, San Francisco, in tho plot reserved for officers of tho government and their wivos. Major 'Sells leaves a brother, Elijah W. Sells, of New York City, a man of national ropulatiou as an expert, accountant; ac-countant; a sister, iirs. ."John Bovard of Kansas City, and these children: C. W. Sella, president and general man-agor man-agor of the Pike's Peak Eailroad company; com-pany; Mrs. F. Dowev Richards of New York City; Mrs. J. T. Richards of Salt Lako City, Louis and Eugcuo Soils ot Berkeley, Cal. Major Sells 's father was the Hon. Elijah Soils, formerly Iowa secretary of state, and later secretary sec-retary of state for the territory of Utah, and secretary of the Utah commission com-mission prior to statehood, lie served through tho civil war in the navy as paymaster, serving undor Flag Oflicer Footc on the Mississippi, when the letter's let-ter's flotilla operated in counection with the land forces under General Grant at the capture of Forts Donclson aud McITcnry and later at the capture of Island tso. 10 and Vicksburg( under Dupontl when Flag Officer Fooic was incapacitated through wounds from a boiler exploded on "the gunboat Essex by a rebel shell.
