Show esstej snows DRAMS CROWDS Local Auto Dealers Visiting Different Exhibits Report Business Satisfactory. Sam Sharnian of the Shannan Automobile Auto-mobile company and Prank Botterill of the Botterill Automobile company are both in the east, attending the automobile automo-bile allows, with a view to securing new ideas to put in force at tho SalULakc show, which begins in Salt Lake on February 17. Both gentlemen are members mem-bers o the local show committee and it is expected thoy will return home with, many up-to-date ideas in conducting conduct-ing automobile shows. Of the eastern shows, Mr. Botterill writes aa follows: First of all, the ntfcondauco has boon greater than in past years, and the actual business done during tho show is very satisfactory. At the Detroit show I found that evory department store, hotels and even barber shops were displaying auto-mobilo auto-mobilo tires, coats, supplies etc., bearing cards advertising the show. In fact, everyone was boosting the show along. Tho shows that we havo in Salt Lake, although, of course, not as large as the eastern ones, are, from the standpoint of decorations and attractions, tho equal of any of the shows I have seen here. The prospective purchaser pur-chaser of an automobile or anyono interested in the many newer ideas of cars have a better opportunit3' to see and examine them at our snow than thoy will hero. The automobile show, I find everywhere, brings more profit into a cit3' than any other oveut. In Chicago tho large hotels havo been reserving rooms for tho past ninety days ana today ("Sunday) you will find plenty of trouble in securing accommodations at first-class hotels ho-tels in this city, unless you have made advance reservation. I am telling vou this so you will undcr-staud undcr-staud the great interest that is taken, and without doubt, with Ihp publicity we are giving to our local show, andi with the special railroad rates, more people will visit our town during the show than any event we havo had in pur city during dur-ing tho past j-ear. 'Our hotels, newspapers, etc., should boost all they can, as in the year of 1014 the motor car is without question the most interesting and attractive subject sub-ject in America. Just a word rogarding the cars. There is nothing particularly now, excepting tho wonderful increase and general adoption of eix-cvl-inder motors 65 per cent of tno cars shown in all the eastern shows have six-oylinder motors, and in cars selling for $1500 and over nearly 70 per cent of 1914- cars manufactured are sixes. The general opinion throughout the east is that Salt Lake City is the best city inthe ontiro west and everyone hasfa good word to say for us. and from my observations observa-tions our city looks just as good as any of them and a good doalbottor than most. |
