Show BOV FRIGHTFULLY BURNED. Morel Johnson, 10 Years of Age, May Die as Result of Injuries. Special to Tho Tribune. OGDEN. Jan. 31. Seriously burned "by an explosion of gasoline at his home, 2012 Farr avenue, this morning. Morel Johnson, a.gcd 10 years, con ot Mrs. J. D. Johnson, is at tho Deo hospital not expected to live through tho night. Mrs. Johnson, tho mother, received oalnful bums whllo attempting to put out tho llamcs which enveloped the boy, but her injuries are not regarded ao serious. The accident was duo to tho boy mlfl-taklng mlfl-taklng a can of gasoline for r can of kerosene. He arose about S o'clock this morning with the intention of going skating skat-ing hs hjoii ns he had eaten breakfast-Tho breakfast-Tho fire which ho had started In tho kitchen range seemed to havo ceased burning, when he decided to rekindle It quickly by the use of kerosene. Instead of picking up the can of coal oil the lad poured gaEollne onto tho embers em-bers of the lire, and the resulting explosion ex-plosion completely enveloped him In flames. Summoned by hlo screams, tho mother rushed to the room from upstairs and endeavored to put out tho fire by wrapping tho boy's body In ruga and clothing. She succoeded In routing out tho fire, but not beforo tho boy had received re-ceived deep burns about tho arms, Icga and body. His face was tho only part of him untouched by the ftro. He, was removed at onco to tho Deo hospital and every effort la being mado to save his life. |
