Show M LIGHT DISTRICT PLACED LIPJOER BI Pocatello Grand Jury Makes Recommendations in Addition Addi-tion to Indictments. Special to The Tribune. POCATELLO, Idaho, Jan. 31. The grand Jury, -which was called by Judge Budge to Investigate the social vice In the city of Pocatello, completed Its labors la-bors yesterday and mado the following recommendations: That tho bo-call od "redllght" dl8trlct he closed permanently; permanent-ly; that tho city Jail undergo a cleaning; that the nev county Jail would bo a sanitary san-itary place for prisoners. The grand Jury, In its final report, also stated that more money had been received re-ceived as fines than had been spent in the prosecution of liquor cases; that no Irregularities had been found in any of the county offices; that the sheriff and county clerk -were especially to be commended com-mended In tho carrying out of the law; that tho administration of the mayor and chief of police vu3 on the sldo of law und Justice. The following indictments were returned: re-turned: William Edwards, arson, gambling gam-bling and conspiracy to rob; Wlllard Green, conspiracy to rob; A. R, Richards, gambling; Stevo Strateos, gambling; Sal-vadoro Sal-vadoro Monti, keeping disreputable house: Eugene Ferando, ditto; C. Tomassl of Soda Springs, ditto; Eva Cameron of Soda Springs, ditto; Earl Bassett, receiving re-ceiving stolon property. This makes twenty-four Indictments returned hy this grand Jury. The jury aleo found that there were some Irregularities and technical tech-nical violations In the last election by election clerks and Judges and others in voting those not registered, and suggests that the commissioners choose Judges for their fitness rather than for political reasons. |
