Show ROOKLIDGE STEPS OUT THIS EBW6 Will Resign as Member of Board of Public Works; Second West Paving. Charles D. Rooklldge's resignation as a member of tho board of public works will go hr to the board at its meeting this (Friday) evening, and at tho same lime Ills application for the place of chief Inspector of public works at a salary of $125 a year will bo presented. Inasmuch as Mr. Rooklldge may bo necessary to make a quorum for tho board meeting this - evening he will bo sisked, It is understood un-derstood to withhold his resignation until un-til after the meeting. Four or live other applicants for the job of Inspector aro mentioned, prominent among whom are L. D. Martin, former councilman, A. L. Luavltt and Francis Hall, who has been acting chief inspector. inspec-tor. Mayor Bransford said Thursday that ho had not considered Mr. Rooklldge's successor suc-cessor on tho bonrd of public works yet. Another matter to bo considered by the board tonight will bo the contract for the paving of Second West street from Third South streot to the Warm Springs. Bids on this gigantic pleuo of public work were to have been considered two or three weeks ago. but the charactor of the paving pav-ing In front of tho lire station near North Temple street had not been dolcrmlncd, neither was the city engineer quite through with his details of tho specifications, specifica-tions, but now it has been decided to put down creosoted cedar blocks at the fire stations, and the plans aro all completed, so the contract should be awarded tonight. |
