Show SI-IE RMAN NOT AWARE OF CHARGES AGAINST HIM UTICA. N. Y Aug. -1. Vice President Sherman left Utica this afternoon for Bl; Moose in the Adlrondacks, unaware of the charges mado by Senator Gore. Bccauso of a storm that placed the telephone system out of commission he was not reached until after S o'clock this evening. Conversation then was difficult dif-ficult and Mr. Sherman would not discuss dis-cuss the charges until in a position to hear and address tho Interrogator without with-out a chance of being misunderstood. 1 no charges of Senator Gore were received re-ceived with surprise in this city. None of Mr. Sherman's Intlmato associates in business would place any credence In them. Vice President Sherman Indicated today to-day that he would remain In the Adlrondacks Adlron-dacks until Monday. The congressional campaign committee will have his speech-making itinerary In charge, and the suggestion was made today, to-day, prior to the announcement of tho charges of Senator Gore, that Mr. Sherman Sher-man would deliver speeches in Oklahoma, Whether he will go to Muskogee now Is a matter of conjecture. |
