Show PERIOD OP DULLNESS MAY SUCCEED BULGE James A. Pollock & Co., hankers and brokers, furnish tho following, received over their private wires yesterday afternoon: after-noon: Logan & Bryan Stock Letter, New-York. New-York. The market during tho greater part of today's session was dull and uninteresting, un-interesting, but after earjy declines were recorded the undertone became firm and a slight recovery took place In the Inst hour. Rumors were not circulated as freely as heretofore and the comparative strength on Northern Pacific served to create the Impression that the selling yesterday was more In the nature of liquidation and operations rather than on fears of dividend reduction in October. Traders aro waiting the publication of the government crop report and also that of the Copper Producers association next week, and the former is likely to have a pronounced effect on the Immediate course of securities. A period of dullness would, perhaps, be about the best remedy for the market at this time, as the confidence con-fidence of investors has been shattered to a very great extont by the recent sharp movements. The clement In favor of lower low-er prices arc still quite aggressive and will undoubtedly succeed in the absence of good buying to force occasional recessions, reces-sions, but we aro Inclined to think that the situation generally has Improved to an extent that warrants moderate purchases pur-chases being made on the drives. Paine. Webber & Co., Boston. There was a fair demand for coppers, with offerings of-ferings still light. There seems? to be a little more confidence in our market, and on any weak spots would buy Lake, North Butte, Hancock. These stocks have been very well bought In the last few days. The New York market is practically prac-tically unchanged. We believe that purchases pur-chases made on any dip around this level will show moderate profits. Hornhlowor Letter. Boston Coppers were dull today, but the tone was strong and prices gained from a fraction to over a point. The buying was of the best and traders worked for higher prices at every opportunity. Market seems to improve im-prove from day to day, and the feeling is growing stronger that higher prices are in sight, and the best Judges are advising advis-ing buying on nil weak spots for profit. Tho close was firm, with a fair demand. Gallagher says: Very little doing on the curb today. Market quiet, with no features.
