Show STABS OF YESTERDAY WILL PLAY BASEBALL The Alta Club to Meet University Univer-sity Club on Diamond for 'Benefit of Charity. Arrangements -were begun Thursday for a baseball game between the Alta club and tho University club, to be played at Walker's llold next week for the benefit of the Judge aiercy hospital, Tho plans progressed so well that before nightfall each club bad a squad of a score of former for-mer baseball stars practicing for the coming event. Three thousand tickets will be sold for the big game, which will be played at Walker's field, probably one week from Saturday. Tho entire proceeds of the game will go to the hospital, the players being content with the glory attaching to a magnificent triumph or an honorable defent. At first thought it would seem that the comparative youngsters of the University Univer-sity club would have little trouble disposing dis-posing of the malefactors of great wealth represented in the personnel of tho Alta club team. However, the University club has not a monopoly on the shining lights of tho diamond. There are among tho members of the Alta club team players who ivero the heroes of many a spectacular spectacu-lar plav on college fields and with them the memory of tho plaudits and bouquets which were theirs is still green. They are emphatic In tho declaration that they can "come back." Samuel Nowhouse has already been selected se-lected as field umpire, and lest he go in as arbiter of the contest unwarned it Is announced that one sldo or tho other stands ready to dispute his every decision. |
