John T. nockefellc-r today was served personally with summona to appear In court in the suit for $550,000 damages brought against him and tho Standard Oil company at Klndlay, O.. last week, by Thomas B. Kelly and others. Deputy Sheriff Halloran took the summons sum-mons to l'orcst Hill, the Rockefeller home. Gatekeeper Pat Lynch sent tho deputy on to the Jiouso in a carriage. Mr. Rockefeller was standing on the front porch when Hnlloran approached. He cordially greotod the officer nd asked him Into the house. The carriago was again placed at Hal-loran's Hal-loran's disposal when ho made ready to leave. He declined, saying ho would rather walk and gat a good look about tho grounds. "Oh, If you want to walk," said Mr. Rockefeller, "go this way. It Is much prettier." Ho accompanied Halloran a short distance. The petition in the case recites that through Its monopoly of the oil business, the Standard Oil company has caused thu complainants to lose the amount sued fnr. |
